Anthony Edwards gets a shout-out ahead of his new role! The Minnesota Timberwolves guard is fresh off his national duty and the first thing he picked up is not a basketball. The 23-year-old strapped boxing gloves on his bare knuckles in the lead-up to the much-awaited Saturday scrap between Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III. Above all, T-Rex A. K. A. Claressa Shields dropped a personal note to the Olympian on his special role.

Anthony Edwards VS Claressa Shields AND FLOYD Mayweather

JUST IN: Claressa Shields hits back at Savannah Marshall: ‘You can’t beat me in anything!’…

The long overdue boxing exhibition between Mayweather and Gotti III is finally on the cards. The last time the two pugilists took to the ring, fans couldn’t witness a result as the match came crashing down on the 6th round after the mayhem outside the ring. After a year, the fighters have come together for another face-off. But this time, the undisputed money will have a special company. It’s none other than Anthony Edwards.

According to TMZ, Ant-Man and Anthony Davis would accompany Floyd Mayweather to the ring on Saturday. So, the fans expect the two Olympians in Mexico City for the August 24 event. Moreover, ahead of the matchup, Edwards dropped a video on his Instagram. It was a video of gloved-up Edwards, throwing punches at a trainer. The baller certainly seemed to be prepared for the boxing game, even though he would be off the ring. Notably, he received a shout-out from Claressa Shields as she wrote, “Ok ok favorite!!!” in the comments.

Notably, this isn’t the only time when the new WBC heavyweight champion is involved in Anthony Edwards’ affairs. But before we head to that, let’s clear out the Floyd Mayweather business. Why are Edwards and Anthony Davis accompanying him to the ring? Well, this isn’t the first time. Earlier, Mayweather walked in with Justin Bieber and Lil’ Wayne by his side. Moreover, Jarred Vanderbilt is also expected to join the NBA duo.

Floyd Mayweather and John Gotti III

In the last few days, Noah Lyles and Anthony Edwards hit the headlines after the sprinter’s statement resurfaced again. Ahead of the Paris Olympics, Lyles has done some damage to Edwards in an interview with Sean Gregory. Apparently, Adidas had invited Lyles for the Ant-Man signature shoe launch event, which the sprinter didn’t turn up.

Speaking of which, Lyles said, You want to do what?’ You want to invite me to [an event for] a man who has not even been to an NBA Finals? In a sport that you don’t even care about? And you’re giving him a shoe?” And went on to make a case to get himself a signature deal with the sporting brand.

While the Wolves guard remained silent about the interview both during the time of its release and after it was resurfaced, Shields didn’t keep quiet. The boxer reshared Lyles’ comments on her X handle and wrote, This looks [like] jealousy to me.” Days later, she has given a shout-out to the star’s new role in the Mayweather fight. Ant-Man certainly has a star cheerleader off the court.

Claressa Shields has a message for Savannah Marshall.

The two rivals fought in an excellent undisputed middleweight title fight in 2022, which Shields won by unanimous decision.

But Marshall believes the outcome could be different if they fought again, especially if it was in an MMA contest.

“She wants to come to MMA and try her luck, come on. I’m not stopping her. I just know that she is not a harder worker than me. That’s why she couldn’t beat me in boxing.”

Savannah Marshall vs Claressa Shields

The American went on to say: “Savannah needs to understand – and the sooner she understands the better – you can’t beat me in nothing. The sooner she understands that the better we’ll all be. Just give it up. You can’t beat me in nothing.

“You keep coming over here saying you’re chasing me to MMA. I’ve been in MMA, you’re not chasing me. I am right here for you and if I’m motivation for you to train, hey, train. But guess what – you will get beat up again,” she continued.

“It doesn’t matter what we do. Basketball, track, we can run the 400m, I’m going to [leave her] in the dust. I don’t even know how to do a backflip but I’m going to do a better backflip than her.”

Shields added: “We can fight boxing, I’m going to win. We can fight MMA, I’m going to win. We can streetfight, I’m going to win. It doesn’t matter.

“We can play ping pong, I’m going to win. I’m just better than her at everything. She needs to understand that and I’m going to make sure whatever she wants to challenge me in, I’m better.

“That’s how competitive I am. She can’t beat me in nothing. She can’t beat me in trash talk either, I trash-talked her under the table.

“Everything I said hit her to the heart. She kept thinking about me and dreaming about me. We got in that ring and then I beat her up.”

Their rivalry though will continue. Shields will compete next in MMA. She will have another PFL bout on Saturday.

Marshall expects to make her PFL debut in the summer but will be cageside this weekend to scope out Shields for a potential fight.

“Tell her I said thank you for coming to watch me. I feel so honoured, so privileged that she’s coming,” Shields said in a comment laced with sarcasm.

“She’s going to see what a real fighter fights like come February 24. She’s going to see what she wants to be.”

Shields maintained though that she does not need to fight Marshall again.

“I don’t care about what Savannah Marshall thinks. I never did and I don’t and I won’t ever,” the American declared.

“I think Savannah thinks about me way more than I ever think about her. I stopped thinking about her the moment they raised my hand and they said: ‘The undisputed champion of the world.’

“Once they said I was the winner of that fight, I haven’t thought about the girl. Great fight, I had a great victory.

“Of course she don’t like me, duh. But I love you girl and I’m going to love beating you up again if you keep messing with me.”

It might be the fight of the year, and it has everything to offer. Two British heavyweights dance around the ring to score a knockout and secure a golden ticket to fight for the undisputed title next. What’s better than actually putting on such a show before their home crowd, too? So, the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois fight is the hype, and the fans are looking forward to some fireworks and some heavy blows, as they fight it out for the biggest prize of their careers. And it seems it might also surpass what Tyson Fury pulled off two years ago.

OLEKSANdr usyk VS ANTHONY JOSHUA

Joshua, 34, and Dubois, 26, will clash at Wembley Stadium on September 21 for the IBF heavyweight title and the massive Riyadh card has already swayed the fans. The developments are under process to accommodate as many fans as possible, as HE Turki Alalshikh has requested some additions to the iconic arena.

Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois set on course to shatter some records

TalkSports’ Michael Benson turned to his X handle and revealed the Joshua vs. Dubois fight could break the current attendance record at Wembley Stadium. Previously, Fury had gone up against Dillian Whyte in 2022 and attracted a crowd of 94,000, the largest ever for a combat event in the UK. He wrote, “Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois could break the British boxing attendance record at Wembley Stadium on Sept 21st as His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has said they’ve now applied to extend the capacity with the aim of surpassing the 94,000 who attended Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte.”

Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov

Interestingly, HE Turki Alalshikh, in a recent post on X, admitted to pleading with authorities to extend the capacity of Wembley and also hoped to pull up the largest crowd in the stadium’s history. Whether that comes true or not will depend on how the fans perceive the fight, and it seems they are swayed by it.

Fans rally behind ‘AJ’

One fan called Joshua, the one-third face of boxing, and demanded respect for the British fighter. They declared, “Anthony Joshua is 1/3 face’s of boxing! Put some respect on his name.” While Canelo Alvarez lays claim to the current face of boxing, the other part half is clearly Gervonta Davis.

Canelo Alvarez

A user criticized ‘AJ’ for cherrypicking an opponent and believed the last worthy opponent he faced was Oleksandr Usyk. Predicting a knockout, they argued, “The last good opponent Joshua had was Usyk smh AJ stops Dubois in 7.” Interestingly, after suffering a defeat from the Ukrainian fighter for a second time in 2022, Joshua is on an exciting 4-0 run.

Froch and Joshua were Olympic teammates but have since lost their close bond. Joshua recently called Froch a “p****y” in an interview and Froch went on to leak their WhatsApp DMs as well. Someone referenced the recent beef between Carl Froch and Joshua, at 28-3. They announced, “Carl froch punching air rn.” The comment was also in reference to Carl Froch’s long-standing record of 80,000 spectators at Wembley which he held in 2014 in a fight against George Groves, which has since been broken multiple times by both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

TYSON FURY VS ANTHONY JOSHUA AND FRANCIS NGANNOU

A comment denied accepting anything from HE Turki Alalshikh. The comment read, “We don’t believe nothing turki says about a sell out 😂😂.” The comment could be a jibe at Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov, where the Saudi adviser claimed to be selling out the arena, but later some contested that promoters distributed free tickets to fill the arena.

Lastly, one fan threw shade on Joshua’s opponent and praised AJ for his popularity and for carrying on promotional duties. They insisted, “AJ be carrying these unmarketable boxers on his back 😂.” Joshua has sold over 1 million PPV buys in his fights with Andy Ruiz and Wladimir Klitschko. He also sold almost 700,000 PPVs when he fought Francis Ngannou earlier this year. It remains to be seen whether he can replicate similar success when he fights Dubois.

What do you make of this development regarding Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois? Do you believe the fight will shatter attendance records on September 21? Let us know in the comments below.

PFL star and former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, has spoken about the potential of facing his former boxing opponents, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua in MMA.

JUST IN: How much Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will earn from heavyweight fight…

Despite Ngannou making the switch over to boxing to face two of the best heavyweights in the world in his first two fights, ‘The Predator’ doesn’t seem confident that the British heavyweight boxing stars, Fury and Joshua, will reciprocate what he did and come into a different sport to face him.

TYSON FURY VS ANTHONY JOSHUA AND FRANCIS NGANNOU

Last year, former UFC heavyweight champion, Ngannou, made his boxing debut in a huge super-fight against Fury. After losing a very close decision to ‘The Gypsy King,’ which many people actually thought Ngannou won, the Cameroonian ecured himself another huge boxing bout against Joshua just five months later. The fight against Josua was very different for Ngannou, as he got completely flatlined inside two rounds and put out cold.

Despite taking a brutal KO loss, the boxing world heaped praise on Ngannou for stepping into the ring against two of the best and most dominant heavyweight boxers in his first two professional fights.

Anthony Joshua

When asked whether or not the British heavyweight boxing stars would do something similar to Ngannou and make a move over to MMA to face him, ‘The Predator’ did not seem confident that could happen as it is a lot more difficult to learn all aspects of martial arts as opposed to the one he had to, which was just solely boxing. Speaking to MMA journalist, John Morgan at last week’s PFL DC media scrum, Ngannou said the following:

“They don’t want that smoke. Nobody wants that, and I wouldn’t want it either. I don’t blame them. There is a lot of elements in MMA that’s way complicated for boxers to crossover than for MMA fighters to crossover to boxing. I need to see them do some practice. Maybe one of them have the wrestling skill. You don’t of the grappling skill. We need to see.”

Despite moves to MMA for both Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua being extremely unlikely, both men have shown interest and teased moves to MMA in the past.

Just after his brutal KO victory over Francis Ngannou earlier this year, ‘AJ’ posted training footage on social media of him kicking and kneeing pads which led to many people speculating he could be teasing a move over to MMA.

As for Fury, he has also shown interest in competing in MMA in the past. In recent years, ‘The Gypsy King’ has also been pictured training with well-known MMA fighters, Darren Till and Nick Diaz, and has also voiced the opinion that due to his bare-knuckle past, he could transition well to MMA.

There’s no doubt that Claressa Shields is one of the greats in the sport. Her achievements outweigh most names in the community, and in fact, she recently won a title in a fifth weight class, becoming the heavyweight champion. But Andre Berto and Andre Ward feel she still doesn’t receive the kind of respect, notoriety, and money she deserves.

JUST IN: Claressa Shields KOs Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in 2nd round, winning 4th and 5th titles…

You see, the thing is, Shields has always been very outspoken about the things she has done in the sport. Be it her two Olympic medals, or her undisputed status in two weight classes, she never misses an opportunity to boast about herself. This doesn’t sit well with everyone and don’t forget everyone has haters as well, meaning she receives a lot of hate online. And in the face of such an instance, while appearing in the All The Smoke Fight podcast of late, the Andre duo defended Shields against her haters.

CLARESSA SHIELDS

And Claressa Shields responds in agreement

Berto emphasized his support for Shields while recognizing her achievements in the sport, stating, “I believe that she continues to feel like she has to do more and more to continue to try to gain any type of real respect.” He noted that Shields has branched out into MMA, rapping, and YouTube, not just out of passion but to create more buzz around her, “because she feels like she needs to.”

Despite these efforts, Berto argued that Shields still isn’t receiving the love, recognition, or sponsorships she deserves. He pointed out that Shields feels other female athletes, who she doesn’t believe are on her level, “continue to get” the recognition she’s working hard to achieve. Berto speculated that this disparity could stem from her background or the way she speaks—whatever the reason, he suggested it’s an issue that needs to be addressed.

Championing Shields’ success, Berto asked pointedly, “What else does she need to do to get those real dollars, those real endorsement dollars?” During the same conversation, Andre Ward added his perspective on the criticism Shields faces online, saying, “I’m not standing for the blatant disrespect to this young lady from these grown men.

Later that day, clips from the podcast began circulating on X, catching Shields’ attention. She responded passionately, “Yeah! Cause wtf wrong with yall ni**as!!!” Nevertheless, Shields remains committed to proving she’s the best in women’s boxing, upholding her title as ‘The GWOAT.’

Anthony Joshua twice came up short to Oleksandr Usyk, but the Matchroom founder says he still wants to avenge those losses.

JUST IN: How much Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will earn from heavyweight fight…

Matchroom founder Barry Hearn tells Sky Sports that his company has a responsibility to deliver a big British fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury — who is currently scheduled to rematch Oleksandr Usyk while Joshua is lined up to face Daniel Dubois. But while Fury is focused on Usyk, Hearn says Joshua also has an eye on the Ukrainian who beat him in back to back fights between 2021-2022.

OLEKSANdr usyk VS TYSON FURY

“He wants to beat Usyk,” Hearn said. “Because the first fight he had with Usyk, frankly he came out second best. He went away, he regrouped, he learned, he studied and he still got beat in the second fight. That’s why he got so disappointed in the second fight.”

Hearn would continue by characterizing Joshua as a special type of athlete who is motivated by much more than money, and it’s his competitive spirit that drives him to try to reach boxing’s mountaintop once again.

Anthony Joshua and  Daniel Dubois

“These people want to win and they want a legacy. I don’t think Anthony Joshua will sleep at night until he is unified.”

Joshua, however, mustn’t get distracted from the task at hand as a loss to Dubois could likely ruin the prospects for him getting the fights he’s looking towards. Joshua and Dubios will go head-to-head on September 21 at Wembley Stadium while Fury and Usyk rematch in December, and should everything go according to Matchroom’s plans, there will be another big fight for Joshua to come thereafter.

The much-anticipated heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is finally set to happen at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh this Saturday.

The pair will be battling it out for all four major heavyweight titles, marking the first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 2000 and the first champion of the four-belt era. Originally pencilled in for February, the fight was delayed due to an injury Fury picked up during training.

Tyson Fury VS Oleksandr Usyk

The postponement has only ramped up the tension, with a recent spat involving Fury’s dad John and a member of Usyk’s team adding more spice to the mix. On top of the championship belts, both undefeated fighters are set to pocket a hefty payday.

While the final figure won’t be confirmed until after the fight, it’s estimated to be around $150m (£116m), according to The Independent. Last year, it was agreed that the purse would be split 70/30 in Fury’s favour.

Usyk accepted the smaller share on the condition that Fury donates £1m of his winnings to Ukraine, reports Birmingham Live. If the reported purse is accurate, Tyson Fury is set to bag a whopping $105m (£82.9m) from this weekend’s bout.

Francis Ngannou and Tyson Fury

Last year, legendary boxing promoter Bob Arum revealed that the ‘Gypsy King’ would not be satisfied with a mere $100m offer. In an interview, Bob Arum revealed: “If you told Tyson Fury he’s set to make $100m, he’d really get p****d off,” elaborating further by saying, “Because he thinks and I think he’s right that he’s gonna make a lot more than that.”

Tyson Fury is no stranger to high earning fights in Saudi Arabia, having

previously pocketed a hefty £35m from his crossover bout with former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou last October.

For the vast majority of boxing fans, Gervonta Davis sits on the periphery of the top three pound-for-pound fighters in the sport but when it comes to pay-per-view draw, he and Canelo Alvarez remain at the top of the pile. Now it appears as though there is a new date in the calendar to be marked, as Davis’ second fight of the year has been touted for a date and location.

Canelo Alvarez

JUST IN: Trainer wants Jose Valenzuela to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis next…

‘Tank’ was upgraded from WBA (Regular) lightweight champion to full WBA world lightweight champion last November and made a first defence of his new strap when he faced Frank Martin at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and the Baltimore-born knockout-artist obliged with yet another stoppage win.

With the belts fragmented across the 135lb division, there is an expectation on Gervonta Davis’ shoulders to compete in unification bouts against the likes of Vasyl Lomachenko (IBF) and Shakur Stevenson (WBC), but it is the latter who has been closely linked to a showdown with the southpaw sensation, after ‘Loma’ ruled himself out.

Instead, it is Davis and Stevenson have been rumoured to face one another in an all-American affair for the WBA and WBC titles, with whispers even circulating that the duo had agreed a deal to face one another in November, only for Stevenson to deny those claims.

Gervonta Davis vs Vasyl Lomachenko

Unfortunately for fight fans, William Zepeda now seems set to take on Stevenson after it was reported that the WBC title-holder had ‘verbally agreed’ to meet the Mexican, who is ranked as the number one contender with all four sanctioning bodies. However, Davis is still expected to fight in November, as TGB Promotions have booked out the T-Mobile Arena (Las Vegas) for a card on November 2nd.

That being said, Promoter of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn, who has been linked with signing free-agent Stevenson in recent weeks, set out his plans to make Tank-Stevenson in 2025, as per SportsKeeda.

“Shakur is in a good spot at the moment, there’s a lot of people talking about him. He’s gonna have a few offers, hopefully he comes with [Matchroom Boxing]. But it’s got to work for us and him. But when you look at ‘Tank’s’ options, the only thing he can really do is move to [140 pounds].”

“If I’m Shakur, I chase the [William Zepeda] fight. I keep building my brand into the ‘Tank’ fight next year. That’s a big fight when it happens. It’s one of the best fights in boxing.”

As far as potential opponents for November 2nd go, aside from William Zepeda, 21-year-old Floyd Schofield (17-0) is next in line in the WBA rankings but the highly-rated prospect is unlikely to rush in to a fight of that magnitude just yet.

Meanwhile, Edwin De Los Santos spoiled the party when he fought to a dull split-decision defeat to Stevenson last year, the Dominican is ranked #4 with the WBA and would provide ‘Tank’ with a perfect springboard to do what Stevenson couldn’t and knock De Los Santos out, to set up a potential 2025 scrap with his lightweight rival.

As Tyson Fury gears up to rematch Oleksandr Usyk, his first racehorse is preparing to make her debut this week.

The former heavyweight world champion’s two-year-old filly, Big Gypsy King, runs at Newmarket on Friday afternoon in the 5.45 race.

“Traditionally, horses have been a big part of Tyson’s family.

“They are very busy people, but they wanted to come and see the horse run and, thankfully, it has worked out as Tyson will soon be getting ready for his rematch with Usyk in Saudi Arabia.

“Hopefully if Big Gypsy King does well Tyson might get a few more.”

Fury is set to rematch Usyk on December 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the WBC, WBO and WBA belts after dropping a split decision to the Ukrainian in May.

Anthony Joshua and  Daniel Dubois

Their inaugural encounter was all four major sanctioning body belts, however, Usyk has vacated the IBF strap.

The IBF wanted Usyk to face Daniel Dubois but the 37-year-old wasn’t able to accept their call due to the rematch clause in his contract with Fury.

As a result, Dubois has been upgraded to IBF world champion and will defend his title against Anthony Joshua on September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Whoever emerges victorious from that fight is the favourite to face the winner of Usyk vs Fury next.

However, if Fury loses again, some believe his boxing future will be in doubt.

“If he loses to Usyk, I think that will be the last we see of Tyson Fury,” Carl Froch said on his YouTube channel.

“He has had a bit of a time out to get over the defeat, and go for it and had a good training camp.

“At 36-years-old he struggles to do the weight, he is slowing down and the stats are suggesting he is way past his best.

“If he goes out and earns another £50million and then he gets beat again, he isn’t going to fight again.

“He’s been great for the sport, but if Usyk does the job, which I think he does, [then I think he will] turn it in.”
