ANTHONY JOSHUA is one win away from a potential HALF-A-BILLION-POUND Tyson Fury two-fight mega deal.

Victory for Watford’s 34-year-old Olympic legend, over Daniel Dubois tonight at a 96,000 sell-out Wembley, will make him the hottest ticket in boxing.

JUST IN: Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury disagree with their predictions for Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois…

ANTHONY JOSHUA VS Daniel Dubois

And – as long as Fury isn’t violently knocked out and injured in the Oleksandr Usyk rematch on December 21 – the wheels are already in motion for FINALLY making the fight everyone in England wants to see.

Our AJ may dream of getting one back on the 37-year-old Ukraine icon who dominated him twice to snatch away his WBA, IBF and WBO belts.

And a win over 27-year-old Dubois – with bright young trainer Ben Davison – would rightly make him a confident boost about a shot of revenge

But outside of Team AJ and cheerleader Eddie Hearn – there is no clamour at all to see Joshua vs Usyk 3 – especially when the best he can do is drag it back to 2-1 against a man who would be pushing 40 with four kids indoors to worry about.

For all of AJ’s incredible success and downright decency – London 2012’s legacy, his singlehanded revolution of British boxing, and saving of hundreds of local gyms with personal donations in lockdown, when the Government left the sport to die – it is a stain on his record that he never faced a peak and and undefeated Fury or Deontay Wilder.

He has been the golden goose and the cash cow in a sport that is usually a bit of a pigsty – his status as a British sport legend is cemented for eternity.

But across the Pond in America – which will return as the boxing Mecca when Saudi get bored or achieve their goal with funding fights – he is seen as a dud.

Deontay Wilder VS Tyson Fury AND Oleksandr Usyk

The violent knockout loss on his one and only trip to the Big Apple, left a bitter taste over there and snatching a win back over Usyk will not help his reputation outside of his diehard fans.

But if he hangs up his gloves with the Gypsy King and Wilder on his record, then people will have the right to frown when his name is mentioned among the pantheon of greats.

But two great Fury fights – each likely to do around 2m pay-per-view sales at a guess of £30-a-pop – with one likely to sell out a 100,000 seater UK stadium at an average of maybe £500 a ticket – would be a spectacle right up there with the Fight of the Century, Thrilla in Manilla and Rumble in the Jungle.

The world will stop to watch the build-up – let alone the fight.

Imagine the antics John Fury would get up to, what Team Fury’s Brady Bunch of brothers and pals would say to AJ and his boardroom brotherhood.

The brilliant old stories will be dragged up.

The 2010 sparring session at Finchley where rising pro Fury offered his Rolex watch to any man who could floor him and an uppercut from the reformed bad-boy bricklayer almost clocked him.

The fight was almost made twice but collapsed over money and ego.

The bizarre time they bumped into each other in Marbella and – despite all his tirades and taunting – Fury was polite to his verbals victim.

Us hacks will definitely drag up the hilarious times Fury would video call Joshua totally unannounced and wind him up.

Carl Froch will back Fury and say Joshua is useless, John Fury will offer Froch a fight.

Wladimir Klitschko will land back on the scene and support Joshua.

It would be magnificent, hilarious, historic, slapstick, tense, dark and drenched in Saudi slush funds.

And every man, woman, child and dog and duck will want to be there – the trendies who reckons Oasis were never that good – might pretend they don’t care.

After a blockbuster first bout, Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will be back in the ring on December 21 to settle their rivalry. But there are some lingering doubts about whether ‘The Gypsy King’ will enter the squared circle and exchange blows with the unified heavyweight straps on the line. It’s not a question of motivation or the zeal to put on a display for the fans, but about money now.

Usyk, 37, and Fury, 36, clashed in May earlier this year to become the first undisputed heavyweight this century. After a close encounter, the Ukrainian fighter stood tall and took all the marbles to his home, setting up a rematch for December. But there have been doubts in the Usyk camp about Fury, at 34-1-1, honoring his rematch commitments and the contractual clause.

The camp has referenced on multiple occasions how the British fighter rescheduled their fight three times. They also considered how he failed to give Wladimir Klitschko his rematch on two different occasions, pulling out because of medical reasons.

Usyk, at 22-0, admitted his apprehensions when he sat down in a conversation with ‘Ready To Fight’. However, according to him, things would be different because of their contractual obligations, which impose financial sanctions in case of a withdrawal. The Simferopol native said, “No way, because the ball’s in our court now. He has a contract, and so do I until Dec 31st. We have to hold this fight up to and including [that date]. If he pulls out Dec 21st, he will lose all of his money and dividends and won’t be a man of his word anymore.”

Interestingly, a match with the winner of Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois is in the pipeline for the winner of Usyk vs. Fury for the next year. But Usyk only has the motivation to fight only two boxers now.

Retirement plans? Oleksandr Usyk hints at future after Tyson Fury rematch

‘The Cat’ revealed his plans with Seconds Out and admitted his interest in a trilogy fight with ‘AJ’. After that, he wanted to hang his gloves and give the younger generation a chance to take over. He declared, “Well, this is a rematch with Fury and possibly a third match with Joshua… Apart from Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, I have no desire to box with anyone.”

A trilogy match with Joshua, 34, would only make sense if the British fighter triumphs over Dubois, clinches the IBF title, and then tries to unify the heavyweight titles. Otherwise, taking a fight with Dubois also won’t affect Usyk’s image, as there is unfinished business between the two.

The huge rematch between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is fast approaching.

Few would disagree that these two are the best heavyweights on the planet right now. Ukrainian Usyk is yet to lose a fight in the division and was also unbeaten down at cruiserweight where he cleared up and became undisputed champion back in 2018

He pulled off the same feat in the heavyweight ranks in May when he inflicted a first-ever defeat on Fury. The Brit is now in working hard to try and avenge that loss, having said he was having so much fun in the first fight he took his eye off the ball.

Former world champion Wladimir Klitschko was dethroned by Fury back in 2015 and has now had his say on the rematch which will be for the WBA, WBC and WBO titles in December out in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to rtfight.com, he said he thinks it will be a different fight to the last one, which was nip and tuck over 12 rounds.

“We can’t look into the future — only my brother can do that. But I’m confident that the next fight between Fury and Usyk will either be short because Oleksandr will knock Tyson out, or it will be extremely challenging for both athletes — even tougher than the first bout.”

Klitschko then reflected on the first fight.

“We saw that up until the ninth round, the fight was very tough. But I’m proud of Oleksandr. He achieved everything at cruiserweight, and when he moved up to heavyweight, I had questions about how he would handle it, and so did he. It’s a completely different environment there — the size, the weight.”

Finally, he had high praise for his countryman Usyk.

“Usyk will go down in history as one of the most unique athletes in boxing.”

Whoever wins this fight could well go into another undisputed fight with the winner of Anthony Joshua versus Daniel Dubois.

Tyson Fury is to rematch Oleksandr Usyk later in the year as he attempts to overturn the only loss of his career.

Fury was a long-unbeaten boxer and two-time world champion who never lost his belts in the ring.

He picked up his first titles after beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 and lost them due to inactivity when he spent two years away from the sport battling mental health demons.

Upon his return, he soon reclaimed world honours during an epic three fight saga with Deontay Wilder, the first of which was a controversial draw and the second two he won by stoppage to win then defend his WBC title.

It was only back in May when taking on the former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk that he came unstuck, losing over 12 close rounds.

The pair will now do battle once more out in Saudi Arabia in December and ahead of that former undisputed heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis gives Fury ever chance of bouncing back when the two meet again.

‘Fury will learn from this [loss] and he’ll be back! Losing is also part of the game, it’s how you respond to a loss that makes all the difference.’

Fury has himself claimed that he was having too much fun in the first fight and will be better the second time around.

If ‘The Gypsy King’ can come through against the Ukrainian and rival Anthony Joshua can beat Daniel Dubois for the IBF title when the two fight at Wembley later this month, the long-awaited grudge match between the pair for all of the belts could take place next year.

Prior to that, Fury had shared the ring with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder and former UFC champion Francis Ngannou.

Wilder has one of the most impressive knockout records in boxing history and is regarded by some as the biggest one punch finisher of all time. Ngannou, on the other hand, holds the world record for the most powerful punch ever recorded but sceptics weren’t sure if his power would translate inside the boxing ring.

Having been knocked down by both, Fury told The Stomping Ground he was in no doubt that the former WBC champion packs the bigger punch.

“Deontay, by far. Francis Ngannou is a big puncher but I wasn’t really troubled by any of his punches, it wasn’t like dynamite and every time he hit me I was wobbled or anything, it was just one shot to the back of the head and that was it. So Wilder is the biggest puncher I’ve ever been in the ring with by a mile.”

Zhilei Zhang VS Deontay Wilder

Both Ngannou and Wilder are at crossroads in their boxing career. The Alabama heavyweight is coming off two defeats to Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang and has been urged to consider retirement whilst Ngannou suffered a devastating knockout to Anthony Joshua back in March and will now make a planned return to MMA before considering his options inside the ring.

The contender-turned-journeyman managed to take Klitschko the distance in 2009 and did the same with Fury three years later, losing both via unanimous decision, before being stopped in the second round by Joshua in the Brit’s thirteenth fight, one year before he would win his first world title.

Johnson – who has moved Russia and changed his name to Kevin Vladimirovich – has also fought and lost to the likes of Daniel Dubois (UD), Martin Bakole (TKO 5) and Andy Ruiz Jr (UD). None of the men mentioned hit him harder than an Australian heavyweight known as ‘The Lionheart’ – as revealed in an interview with Sport Express.

The names of Fury, Joshua and Klitschko were put to ‘Kingpin’, but he stuck to his original answer.

“No, Alex Leapai is the physically strongest boxer I have ever met in my life. Not only in a fight – I then went back to Australia, lived there for a while, and we sparred together every day. He is powerful.”

Andy Ruiz Jr and Jarrell Miller

Alex Leapai is a one-time world title challenger with 32 wins from a total of 44 fights, 25 of those coming by way of knockout. He was beaten by Johnson in 2012 after going on a run of 17 bouts undefeated. He lost via fifth round stoppage to Wladimir Klitschko two years later after a one-sided affair.

The hard-hitting Aussie was last out in 2019, a short-notice fight against former world titlist Joseph Parker in which he lost via tenth round TKO.

He avenged that loss later the same year but again lost his WBA, WBO and IBF belts on points over 12 rounds when taking on Oleksandr Uysk. The rematch went the same way in 2022 and since then Joshua has been rebuilding with four solid wins over Jermaine Franklin, Otto Wallin, Robert Helenius and most recently a devastating knockout of Francis Ngannou back in March.

It might be the fight of the year, and it has everything to offer. Two British heavyweights dance around the ring to score a knockout and secure a golden ticket to fight for the undisputed title next. What’s better than actually putting on such a show before their home crowd, too? So, the Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois fight is the hype, and the fans are looking forward to some fireworks and some heavy blows, as they fight it out for the biggest prize of their careers. And it seems it might also surpass what Tyson Fury pulled off two years ago.

Joshua, 34, and Dubois, 26, will clash at Wembley Stadium on September 21 for the IBF heavyweight title and the massive Riyadh card has already swayed the fans. The developments are under process to accommodate as many fans as possible, as HE Turki Alalshikh has requested some additions to the iconic arena.

Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois set on course to shatter some records

TalkSports’ Michael Benson turned to his X handle and revealed the Joshua vs. Dubois fight could break the current attendance record at Wembley Stadium. Previously, Fury had gone up against Dillian Whyte in 2022 and attracted a crowd of 94,000, the largest ever for a combat event in the UK. He wrote, “Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois could break the British boxing attendance record at Wembley Stadium on Sept 21st as His Excellency Turki Alalshikh has said they’ve now applied to extend the capacity with the aim of surpassing the 94,000 who attended Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte.”

Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov

Interestingly, HE Turki Alalshikh, in a recent post on X, admitted to pleading with authorities to extend the capacity of Wembley and also hoped to pull up the largest crowd in the stadium’s history. Whether that comes true or not will depend on how the fans perceive the fight, and it seems they are swayed by it.

Fans rally behind ‘AJ’

One fan called Joshua, the one-third face of boxing, and demanded respect for the British fighter. They declared, “Anthony Joshua is 1/3 face’s of boxing! Put some respect on his name.” While Canelo Alvarez lays claim to the current face of boxing, the other part half is clearly Gervonta Davis.

Canelo Alvarez

A user criticized ‘AJ’ for cherrypicking an opponent and believed the last worthy opponent he faced was Oleksandr Usyk. Predicting a knockout, they argued, “The last good opponent Joshua had was Usyk smh AJ stops Dubois in 7.” Interestingly, after suffering a defeat from the Ukrainian fighter for a second time in 2022, Joshua is on an exciting 4-0 run.

Froch and Joshua were Olympic teammates but have since lost their close bond. Joshua recently called Froch a “p****y” in an interview and Froch went on to leak their WhatsApp DMs as well. Someone referenced the recent beef between Carl Froch and Joshua, at 28-3. They announced, “Carl froch punching air rn.” The comment was also in reference to Carl Froch’s long-standing record of 80,000 spectators at Wembley which he held in 2014 in a fight against George Groves, which has since been broken multiple times by both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.

TYSON FURY VS ANTHONY JOSHUA AND FRANCIS NGANNOU

A comment denied accepting anything from HE Turki Alalshikh. The comment read, “We don’t believe nothing turki says about a sell out 😂😂.” The comment could be a jibe at Terence Crawford vs. Israil Madrimov, where the Saudi adviser claimed to be selling out the arena, but later some contested that promoters distributed free tickets to fill the arena.

Lastly, one fan threw shade on Joshua’s opponent and praised AJ for his popularity and for carrying on promotional duties. They insisted, “AJ be carrying these unmarketable boxers on his back 😂.” Joshua has sold over 1 million PPV buys in his fights with Andy Ruiz and Wladimir Klitschko. He also sold almost 700,000 PPVs when he fought Francis Ngannou earlier this year. It remains to be seen whether he can replicate similar success when he fights Dubois.
