‘The Problem Child’ has fought many stars within combat sports over the years, but has named the one opponent who stood out from the rest in terms of punching power

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has named Tommy Fury as the hardest-hitting opponent he has ever faced in the ring.

The two stars have been long-time rivals and have traded barbs online on multiple occasions. The pair had several issues trying to make the fight before they finally settled the score in the ring back in 2023. Despite knocking Fury down in the last round, Paul was eventually handed the first loss of his professional career – losing via split decision.

Since then, ‘The Problem Child’ has got back to winning ways and has defeated the likes of Nate Diaz and Mike Perry. The 28-year-old took on former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson in his last outing back in November. While he was unable to knock the 58-year-old out, the young American cruised to a unanimous decision victory.

With a professional record of 11-1, Paul has faced many big names already in his short career in the ring and has now revealed which opponent hit the hardest. Speaking on an episode RING CHAMPS, the American said: “Probably Tommy. I think more so his timing. I think timing is more important than anything. Tyron (Woodley) was strong, Mike Tyson was strong, but Tommy had better timing and better placement of punches.”

Fury hasn’t fought since he defeated KSI on points back in October 2023. He was due to take on Darren Till earlier this month but pulled out of the fight after his rival threatened to kick him in the head if he was losing the fight. Since then, the Brit has called for a rematch with Paul.

“Right, so I’ve just woke up and seen Logan Paul talk on his podcast yet again about how I don’t want to fight Jake and that I’m running scared. I’ve seen Jake tweet the other day about how he offered me x,y,z on Netflix. I just wanted to come on here and say that no one here is running from this fight,” Fury said.

“I’ve beat you once already, I handed you your first loss. The minute you stepped in there with a real boxer… you lost fair and square. I can give you a second loss, that’s not a problem. But let’s talk some serious numbers down the phone. If you want to get touch, you know where I am. It’s as easy as that. I can come back after a year and beat the pair of you. At the end of the day, if you want to fight, let’s talk some serious numbers… you know where I am.”

Responding to Fury’s demands, Paul said: “What absolute muppet. Buddy you just pulled out of a fight for the 3rd time. You have ZERO credibility. I offered you $8M dollars and you ran away from it. And now you got dumped by Molly, getting sued by DAZN and still can’t call a shot without your dad. GTFOH.”

Following last time’s lackluster clash between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson, many fans questioned the fight’s legitimacy.

Since taking the sport seriously and garnering more attention than ever, ‘The Problem Child’ has had constant cheating allegations thrown his way. Those fixing claims have only strengthened with time and are arguably bigger than ever after his most recent win.

Fans tuned in to Netflix in anticipation of seeing the Mike Tyson of old put on a show. Instead, they were treated to a 58-year-old retired boxer who looked every bit his age.

As expected, the boxing legend put on a losing effort against the much younger and hungrier Jake Paul. Despite Tyson’s age and mileage in the ring, some still believe he sold out for money and allowed his opponent to win.

For the first time since their fight and the subsequent allegations, Mike Tyson has responded to those who say he took part in a scripted matchup.

“It was a real fight,” Tyson said in defense of his multi-million dollar fight with Jake Paul.

Insisting the fight was real, Mike Tyson revealed that the day following his loss, he was suffering from aches and pains.

“I don’t remember [Jake’s power] but my body was really sore. Yeah, [the next day] my body, my chest, my stomach, and stuff were really sore.”

Since losing his in his return bout after almost two decades, Tyson keeps weighing up the idea of retiring for good and has given mixed signals on his decision.

Later in the interview, the veteran hinted at why he may be interested in returning to competition once again.

“That fight was such a big ascend, we were so up and high. We were so excited [but] when the fight’s over, boom! Wow, I’m kind of depressed a little bit.”

  • Tyson went the distance with Jake Paul in his first professional fight in 19 years
  • Iron Mike lost by unanimous decision to the social media star 31 years his junior
  • The 58-year-old had to postpone the original fight date due to a health scare .
  • ‘The fight’s over, boom. Wow, I’m kind of depressed a little bit. We got to get back [into] our living situation [daily life], back to living. [We were] training for it 9 months.’

Paul and Tyson were due to square off in July, but the former world champion had to pull out due to an ulcer, causing the event to be pushed back to November.

The 58-year-old’s health scare was a cause for concern for boxing fans and experts alike before he suffered his seventh professional loss to Paul.

  • Following the clash, Tyson took to social media to share his pride in returning from a supposed near-death health scare to getting back in the ring.

‘This is one of those situations when you lost but still won. I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.

‘I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won.

  • ‘To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you.’

Before stepping into the ring, Tyson was not shy in opening up about the events that left him wondering whether he would survive.

  • Speaking to New York Magazine, Tyson explained: ‘I was in the bathroom throwing up blood. I asked the doctor, ‘Am I going to die?’ He said, ‘We have options’.

‘Options? I couldn’t believe it. I had, like, eight blood transfusions. The doctor said I lost half my blood. I almost died.

‘I lost 25 pounds in 11 days. Couldn’t eat. Only liquids. Every time I went to the bathroom, it smelled like tar. Didn’t even smell like s*** anymore. It was disgusting.

‘It threw me off [when I continued training]. All my coordination, stamina, everything was hectic getting back. I was peaked already. I could have fought him that day, now I got to start from scratch. I just don’t give up. I’m an a****** sometimes. I’m a d***. If I haven’t outlived my enemies, I’ve turned them into my friends.’

Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul on July 20 will be a professional boxing fight sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations, the promoters announced Monday. The heavyweight bout, to be shown live on Netflix from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will take place over eight, two-minute rounds using 14-ounce gloves.

The result will affect their professional records.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul signed on to fight each other with the desire to do so in a sanctioned professional fight that would have a definitive outcome,” Most Valuable Promotions co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said in a statement. “Over the past six weeks MVP has worked with its partners to satisfy the requirements of the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR) to sanction Paul vs. Tyson and we are grateful that we have gotten to this point.”

Tyson, 57, is one of the greatest boxers of all time. Once known as “The Baddest Man on the Planet” for his intimidating demeanor and ferocious knockout power, Tyson was the undisputed heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. He was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 2011.

Tyson (50-6 with 44 knockouts) has not fought since losing to Kevin McBride in June 2005. He will be 58 by the time he enters the ring, making him 31 years older than the 27-year-old Paul. It is the biggest gap in boxing history.

Paul (9-1), a social media star, made his professional boxing debut in 2020. He has since gone on to defeat the likes of former MMA stars Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, Ben Askren and Nate Diaz. His lone loss came to boxer Tommy Fury in February 2023.

“It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard,” Paul said in a statement when the fight was announced in March. “Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons.”

The bout was dubbed a “boxing mega-event” by Netflix, which has expanded its live sports offerings in recent years.

Netflix has multiple sports documentary series including “Formula 1: Drive to Survive,” “NASCAR: Full Speed,” “Tour de France: Unchained,” “Break Point” and “Full Swing.” The streaming company also broadcast the Netflix Cup — a golf tournament that paired Formula 1 drivers with PGA players — and a tennis match between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.
