Shanon Biles, the estranged mother of Olympic gymnast Simone Biles, publicly seeks forgiveness and hopes for reconciliation. In a Daily Mail interview, Shanon reflects on her past struggles with addiction and expresses a desire to mend her relationship with Simone and her sister Adria.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, Shanon Biles, the estranged mother of gymnastics champion Simone Biles, publicly expressed her wish for reconciliation. Shanon, now 52, has reflected on her past decisions that led her to give up Simone and her sister Adria to their grandparents, Ron and Nellie Biles when the girls were toddlers due to her struggles with addiction.

Shanon shared her hopes of one day personally seeking forgiveness from Simone, emphasizing that she is ready to make amends and move forward. “I would like to make amends with Simone personally — I’m just waiting for her and Adria,” Shanon said. “I hope to sit down and discuss our past. Please don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward.”

Shanon, who has been sober and is currently working as a cashier, admitted that she has been following Simone’s recent Olympic success from her home in Columbus, Ohio. Despite not having direct communication with Simone, she remains hopeful for a potential reunion. Shanon mentioned that she stays informed about her daughters through her father, Ron.

Simone BilesThe public reaction has been mixed. Some express empathy for Shanon’s desire to reconnect, while others criticize her for seeking forgiveness only now, after Simone’s success. Comments online reflect a broader debate about accountability and the timing of such reconciliation efforts.

Simone, who has previously been clear about her relationship with her biological mother, continues to focus on her achievements and personal life. The complex dynamics between Simone and her estranged mother remain a sensitive subject as both navigate their past and future interactions.

Simone Biles gave fans a peek inside her downtime in Paris, where she brought home an impressive medal haul at the 2024 Olympics.

After she finished competing, earning three golds and one silver for Team USA, the 27-year-old took in the sights of the French capital with her sister, Adria.

‘From paris with love,’ Biles captioned a series of Instagram snaps on Tuesday.

She was all smiles in the photos, which showed her rocking a beige tank top and a diamond tennis necklace.

The gymnast posed at the Christian Dior Café, adorned with monogrammed cushions and a life-sized giraffe, before floating down the Seine River on a boat.

Biles also looked gleeful as she struck a pose on a balcony, while rocking a sweater that read, ‘Not from Paris Madame.’

The decorated athlete later jetted home to the US, where she told fans she’s ‘never been so happy.’

She reunited with her husband, Jonathan Owens, who was cheering her on in Paris while on a short break from the Chicago Bears training camp.

Biles completed a glorious return to the Olympics in Paris after withdrawing from the Tokyo Games with a case of the ‘Twisties’.

She toasted her success in the French capital with a party alongside Adria at ritzy nightclub, L’Arc Paris.

‘If you see me out at the club, pls tell me to go home,’ Biles joked over the clip shared to her Instagram Story.

‘For my own sake and health in the am (morning),’ she added.

Biles was a leading light for Team USA, who finished top of the medal table at the Paris Olympics.

Naturally, she was tapped to get involved in the Closing Ceremony, where she handed the five-ringed Olympic flag to Tom Cruise, signaling the passing of the torch from Paris to Los Angeles, where the 2028 Games will be held.

Simone Biles’s estranged mother publicly begs her daughter for an opportunity to reconnect.

Shanon Biles, the estranged mother of superstar gymnast Simone Biles, has recently expressed her desire to reconnect with her daughter.

Simone recently added to her gold medal count at the Paris Olympics, calcifying her legacy as one of the greatest gymnasts ever. She won three gold medals in the Paris Games: artistic individual all-around, artistic team All-around and value artistic gymnastics, bringing her total Olympic gold medal count to seven.

Biles has been in high spirits since the games, enjoying her triumph and revelling in her GOAT status. She could be set for some sober—tear-jerking—talks soon, however, as her mother, Sonia, who abandoned her as a child, has taken to the public her desire to mend their relationship.

What Sonia said

The 52-year-old abandoned Simone and her younger sister Adria with their grandparents Ron and Nellie Biles while they were kids, as she struggled with drug and alcohol addiction.

In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, she sought forgiveness from her daughter and hopes they can reconnect.

“I would like to make amends with Simone personally; I’m just waiting for her and [her younger sister] Adria,” Shanon said.

“I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward.

“I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient.”

Simone Biles’ biological mother has expressed her wish to reconcile with her Olympian daughter. In a Tuesday interview with Daily Mail, Shanon Biles revealed that she wants to “make amends” with the 27-year-old gymnast. Due to the Ohio native’s struggles with addiction, Simone was placed in foster care and later adopted by her grandparents at the tender age of 6.

During the lengthy and emotional interview, Shanon recalled losing the custody of her children while she was embattled with financial and legal woes. Recounting her troubled past, the 52-year-old expressed her hopes of reconciliation as she begged Simone for forgiveness.

“I would like to make amends with Simone personally. I’m just waiting for her and Adria,” Shanon told the outlet, adding that she speaks to Simone’s younger sister, Adria more than her. “I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward,” she said of the 11-time Olympics champion.

“I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient,” she continued. Shanon explained that although she is not in contact with her daughter anymore, she continually asks her father, Ronald Biles, Simone’s adoptive parent, about her.

“What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad. I speak to my dad all the time. We’re good now. It was just his birthday, and I called to wish him happy birthday,” she said, adding, “If I need to know anything I call my dad. I ask him about Simone, and he keeps me posted.”

The most decorated gymnast is sporting more than Olympic gold medals this summer

Simone Biles is sporting more than just Olympic gold medals this summer.

The most decorated gymnast is now the owner of an iconic Hermés bag — one of fashion’s most coveted items.

“My parents bought me my Hermés bag,” Biles took to Threads on Wednesday. “Don’t be mad at me, be mad at your parents,” she added.

When one user asked about the detailing of the bag, the seven-time Olympic gold medalist responded, “Black w/ silver hardware! I’ll post a picture soon.”

Last week Biles shared photos of a shopping trip she took at the designer store. She showcased a wall of Hermés Birkin bags along with an orange gift box on a table.

Biles, 27, left the 2024 Paris Olympics with three gold medals and a silver medal in four different gymnastic events.

One of the questions the gymnastics GOAT was constantly asked was where she sees her career headed and if she will be competing in 2028 Los Angeles.

Biles was quick to respond, “You guys really gotta stop asking athletes what’s next after they win a medal at the Olympics.”

In the meantime, fans can look forward to seeing more ways Biles will celebrate her record-breaking and historic achievements in Paris.

The decorated Olympian has been keeping fans updated on the progress of her Texas home over the past year.

Fresh off of winning three gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Simone Biles appears to be tackling her next big project: creating her new home with husband Jonathan Owens.

On Aug. 14, the 27-year-old gymnast shared photos from the ongoing construction of her house. She uploaded four pictures to an Instagram story that showed a glimpse of the progress so far.

In one photo, the cabinets, backsplash and countertops were already installed in her kitchen and it appeared a range hood would be added next.

Biles took a selfie in the second snap, which revealed a mostly empty room aside from a ceiling fan, floor-to-ceiling mirrors and planks of wood on the floor.

The third photo seemed to show the early stages of a grand walk-in shower.

Her fourth and final photo revealed what looked to be a massive walk-in closet with multiple built-in shelves and drawers.

Biles simply added a few side-eye emoji to the post.

According to People, Biles and Owens are having the home built in Texas. She has been keeping fans updated about their dream home for about a year.

She first uploaded a sneak peek of the new construction in September 2023. At the time, only the bare bones of the house — like the stairs, walls and roof — were in place.

“Loading…,” she captioned a slideshow of photos that showed her sitting on the steps, Owens walking through the construction and the couple holding hands.

Biles shared another update in November 2023 of some new additions, including sliding glass doors.

But, the couple had a slight setback a few weeks later. Although the Olympic gold medalist did not specifically reveal details of the issues, she wrote on her Instagram story at the time that she spent six hours trying to resolve the problem, People reported.

“Called my dad for backup yesterday bc I panicked! but I’ve made so much progress & I’m so proud of myself,” she captioned one Instagram story, according to the outlet. “jonathan will deal with the end result oops……..I hope I did it decently & thought of all the things.”

She also included a photo of yellow stains covering some of the floor tiles. “I cannot deal anymore,” she wrote beneath the picture.

With her latest update Aug. 14, it seems their renovation project is back on track and the couple is one step closer to moving in.

Shanon Biles told the Daily Mail in an exclusive interview Tuesday that she is ready to make amends with her daughter, Simone, the most decorated Olympic gymnast in history, following her four-medal winning performance in Paris.

“I’m waiting for the opportunity, but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me,” Biles told the outlet. “Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient.”

Shanon and Simone have been estranged since 2000 when Shanon signed away Simone and her sister Adria’s adoption papers. The two were then raised by Ron and Nellie, Simone’s maternal grandparents.

“When we signed the [adoption] papers, it was like my dad flipped a switch on me—no communication, don’t call, and don’t visit. That’s how it was at the beginning,” Shanon told The Daily Mail in 2016.

Shanon added, “It took me six years before I saw my children again.”

At the time Shanon was dealing with drug and alcohol addiction and had frequent run ins with the law for drinking and driving, assault and drug possession. But she told the Daily Mail she is now sober.

“I am a recovering addict and will always be an addict. But there’s a way [to recovery]. You have to learn to stay away from people, places and things. Change your routine and live your life. Live your best life,” Shanon told the outlet.

Shanon, who had $34 to her name in 2018, according to a bankruptcy filing, now works as a cashier at a Save A Lot.

“I’m not the person I used to be. I’m okay, today. I’m a loving person. I’d give you the shirt off my back,” she said. “I’m very different from what I’ve been portrayed.”

Shanon told the British tabloid in 2016 that her conversations with Simone are brief: “I miss you, I love you, I can’t wait to see you, I’m proud of you, I’m watching. You go girl,” Shanon relayed one example.

Shanon also derided the media and Ron’s treatment of her in 2016.

“I feel like he didn’t have to be so harsh about it,” she told TMZ. “He could’ve been a little bit more classy with it. He didn’t have to put me under the bus.”

Ron did a sit down interview with NBC in 2016, telling the outlet “her (Simone’s) mother had many problems whether with drugs or alcohol. Her kids were eventually taken away from her.”

Shanon said she speaks to and hears about Simone through Ron, although she said she has a direct line to Simone, which she won’t use.

“I do have a direct number, but I won’t use it. I want her to reach out to me,” she said. “It hasn’t happened yet, but I have patience. I’m waiting on her.”

Shanon added that she would like “to sit down and talk” with Simone “and answer any questions (she) may have. I don’t know what you’ve been told but I want you to hear the real deal.”

“If you see me out at the club, pls tell me to go home for my own sake & health in the am,” Biles wrote, adding a crying laughing emoji.

Biles then posted a photo of a pool in front of an orange sky, writing, “Home” and adding a teary-eyed emoji.

“Never been so happy,” she wrote while sharing a selfie from her bed.

Biles’ posts come after she had the honor of carrying the Olympic flag during Sunday’s closing ceremony.

The athlete, who wore a precautionary boot on her foot, walked onto the stage at the Stade de France and joined Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass, as musician H.E.R. performed the American national anthem. The song led into the evening’s highly-anticipated moment when Tom Cruise soared into the crowd.
