Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll are all set to nest in their plush new English home after the U.S. Open as the Northern Irishman prepares for next weekend’s PGA Championship.

McIlroy lived out his dream, nabbing the elusive Green Jacket at Augusta this April after edging out Justin Rose in a tense playoff to finally complete his Grand Slam.

With the PGA Championship on the horizon at the much-loved Quail Hollow course where McIlroy has clinched some stunning wins, the Holywood native and his family have yet another cause for jubilation.

It is claimed that their new home in Surrey is ready for the family to move in. The 35-year-old and Stoll often speak fondly of life across the pond despite setting up shop in Jupiter, Florida. Yet Stoll hasn’t been shy about her less-than-warm feelings for the region’s balmy weather.

On Netflix’s Full Swing chat with Martin Kaymer, McIlroy shared the inside scoop on his wife’s take on the sun-soaked state. Kaymer dished out the tea: “I saw her [Stoll] at a Starbucks once, and she said, ‘I really don’t like the sun.’ I said, ‘Your state’s called the Sunshine State, right?’

McIlroy later revealed his wife’s desire to spend more time back in the UK, saying: “If it was up to her, she wouldn’t move to England straightaway, but she definitely wants to spend more time there.”

Following his thrilling Players Championship win, McIlroy’s playoff opponent J. J. Spaun hinted at the family’s plans, saying on the Fore Play podcast: “He’s super cool. We were talking about the UK.

“I know he’s Northern Irish, but I asked him if he ever hangs out in London. Because my wife has got a really good friend that lives out there and loves going there. He said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m building a house out there.'”.

The Telegraph has since confirmed that a new home has been built for the Masters champion in Wentworth, Surrey. McIlroy, wife Erica Stoll, and daughter Poppy will make the move after the U.S. Open in June.

After Augusta, the family visited their new home to see the final touches, with McIlroy recalling: “It was fun to see and we could have stayed in it, but we wanted to get over to Holywood [his hometown].”

McIlroy explained that his approach to the Masters involved finding ways to distract himself from tournament coverage.

“The week of the Masters, for me, I’m just trying to distract myself with doing anything,” he told Fallon.

“I’m trying not to watch coverage of the tournament, I’m trying not to watch anything about the golf.”

Instead, the golfer turned to alternative entertainment options.

“So, I was watching Bridgerton with my wife, which was her decision, but I actually got into it,” McIlroy admitted, prompting laughter from both Fallon and the audience.

“I’ve got into Bridgerton – I didn’t think I would. I was very against watching it, but Erica convinced me.

“So we’re on a bit of a Bridgerton kick this week, yeah.”

It seems Stoll may be the one making television choices in the McIlroy household.

The golfer described the show as “good” during his Tonight Show appearance.

McIlroy also shared other entertainment choices that helped him relax during tournaments.

He told Fallon he watched the family favourite Zootopia with his four-year-old daughter Poppy on Saturday morning before playing.

“You’re just trying to distract yourself,” he explained with a laugh.

This wasn’t the first time McIlroy used films to unwind before a big win.

Before clinching his second Players Championship in March, he watched The Devil Wears Prada the evening before defeating J.J. Spaun in a Monday playoff.

McIlroy’s unconventional relaxation techniques appear to have paid dividends in his quest for Masters glory.

After 16 attempts, the change in approach finally brought success at Augusta National.

His strict sleep routine combined with these entertainment distractions created a winning formula.

The golfer had previously vowed not to return to Fallon’s show until he secured a green jacket.

He kept that promise, appearing on The Tonight Show for the fourth time, leaving Fallon impressed by the five-time major champion’s new outfit.

Masters winner Rory McIlroy has already found a solid investment for his $4.2 million prize money in the form of a brand new home in London, which he and wife Erica Stoll are currently in the process of building.

The 35-year-old pro golfer revealed his exciting real estate news while discussing his post-Masters plans with reporters on April 23, explaining that he and Stoll did some traveling with their daughter Poppy, 4, immediately after the tournament concluded.

Those travels included a trip to his home country of Northern Ireland as well as a brief stopover in London, where the trio—who are primarily based in Jupiter, FL—paid a visit to their future dwelling.

“Just to be with them, to be with Erica and Poppy and my mom and dad. To see Michael Bannon, my lifelong coach, and spend a bit more time with Harry [Diamond] and his wife. [To] celebrate with the people that have been part of this whole thing for my entire career was absolutely amazing.”

It’s unclear what stage of construction McIlroy’s new home is currently in—or whether he and Stoll began working on the property before the golfer filed for divorce in May 2024, claiming in legal documents that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

However, less than one month later, McIlroy filed to dismiss the divorce, and the couple has appeared rock-solid ever since—now cementing their bond even further by working on a new family home.

The brief breakdown of the marriage sparked a firestorm of speculation about the reasons behind it, with multiple reports suggesting that McIlroy had been involved in a relationship with CBS reporter Amanda Balionis, rumors that both refused to publicly address—although insiders were quick to shut down any talk of a romance between them.

Questions were also raised about what would become of McIlroy’s immense fortune if he and Stoll split. The professional golfer is estimated to be worth around $280 million, much of which he has accumulated through his prize winnings, which regularly total more than $1 million a pop.

Indeed, McIlroy is one of a long line of golfers who have made their home in Florida—specifically in Jupiter, which has become something of a safe haven for the wealthiest and most successful players in the sport over the last three decades.

McIlroy relocated to Jupiter from nearby Palm Beach Gardens in 2017, when he snapped up an enormous mansion from fellow golf pro, Ernie Els.

The property is inside the iconic Bear’s Club community, a gated neighborhood filled with high-end homes, all of which surround the club’s stunning private golf course.

Golfing legend Jack Nicklaus, who has served as something of a mentor to McIlroy, founded the club with wife Barbara in 1999, having moved to the area in 1966.

Over the years, the club has seen an astonishing number of professional golfers sign up for memberships, including McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson, and Patrick Cantlay, all of whom are understood to have turned to Nicklaus for guidance in their careers over the years.

McIlroy’s home, which is now worth an estimated $18.3 million, is just a four-minute drive from the main clubhouse and offers sweeping views of the club’s stunning course.

While the professional golfer might not have the opportunity to spend vast amounts of time in the home—thanks to his hectic travel schedule—when he is there, he has a staggering number of private amenities to enjoy, including a tennis court, home theater, a recording studio, an outdoor kitchen, a pool, and a spa.

Inside, the home—which is set on 2.4 acres—boasts nine bedrooms and 10.5 bathrooms, providing plenty of space for McIlroy and his family.
