How much money would it take to dethrone the champions in every major division? DAZN Boxing gave their fans a sum of $18 million in a recent social media post to choose their team. So, who are these champions? Undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk, former super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, and former undisputed welterweight champion Terence Crawford. But wait, there’s more.

WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue, and women’s WBC super bantamweight champion Yamileth Mercado were also part of the lineup. This was enough to get fans excited as they picked from the options with price tags to defeat each champion in their division.

Who are the challengers?

In addition to the defending champions, DAZN Boxing gave their followers five challengers they could pick from each division with a diminishing price tag. The only catch was the total price tag of the six challengers they chose should not cross $18 million. For Usyk, the challengers were Tyson Fury ($5 million), Anthony Joshua ($4 million), Zhilei Zhang ($3 million), Martin Bakole ($2 million) and Moses Itauma ($1 million).

For Canelo, the list of challengers included Edgar Berlanga ($5 million), Osleys Iglesias ($4 million), Jamie Munguia ($3 million), Diago Pacheco ($2 million), and William Scull ($1 million). In a similar diminishing cost, for Terence Crawford, the challengers were Jaron Ennis, Vergil Ortiz Jr., Jermell Charlo, Sebastian Fundora, and Xander Zayas.

Gervonta Davis had Shakur Stevenson, Vasyl Lomachenko, William Zepeda, Abdullah Mason, and Mark Chamberlain. Meanwhile, Naoya Inoue had to face one of the following: Angelo Leo, Brandon Figueroa, Rafael Espinoza, Murodjon Akhmadaliev, and Bruce Carrington. And finally, Yamileth Mercado.

Gervonta Davis vs Vasyl Lomachenko

Her challengers were Erika Cruz Hernandez, Elleie Sctotney, Mea Motu, Phannarai Netisri, and Nazarena Romero. Seeing such a formidable list of challengers, fans quickly took their personalized list to the comments section to challenge the kings of the division.

Fan wonders if they should keep the money

There’s a reason each of those fighters is a champion—nobody can beat them. This led one user to come up with an alternative. The user wrote, “Can I keep the $18M instead? Half of them not losing.” However, Davis and Crawford are yet to face Stevenson and Ennis, so their crown isn’t exactly safe.

However, the next user was all in on the game, as he shared his list to beat the kings of the divisions. “Bakole, Pacheco, Ennis, Stevenson, Carrington,” the user wrote. This user seems to have forgotten about Mercado, and he is even left with $3 million.

The next user had some changes in his list. The user chose, “AJ, Pacheco, Boots, Loma, Shu Shu, Netisri.” Skipping Stevenson for Davis was interesting, but the lack of money may have influenced this user’s decision.

Terence Crawford Vs Jaron Ennis

Another user presented his list to fight the kings. The user commented, “Bakole, Pacheco, Ennis, Shakur, Bruce.” Even this user seems to have forgotten about Mercado, with several million left.

Meanwhile, this user was left bamboozled with the list of challengers provided for Canelo Alvarez. “That Canelo column is pure foolishness…. Im not playing this game …. Yall ruined it,” the user wrote. This could be because of the absence of David Benavidez.

While the list of fighters people chose to defeat the champions of each division is interesting, making those fights in real life can prove a bit difficult. But the post from DAZN Boxing gave a clear idea of what fights people would like to see. Regardless, who would you choose to beat the kings?

Claressa vs Marshall is a genuine sports rivalry like Ali vs Frazier or Leonard vs Hearns, if they play chess it will be competitive and personal,” said Claressa Shields’ promoter Dmitry Salita; Marshall says she is eyeing a clash with Shields in the MMA cage

Savannah Marshall admits the prospect of a meeting with Claressa Shields in the cage is the main reason behind her decision to step into the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

‘The Silent Assassin’ recently announced she will make her MMA debut in the Professional Fighters League in Newcastle on June 8.

It comes little under a year after Marshall became undisputed super-middleweight champion with a majority decision victory over Franchon Crews-Dezurn in Manchester.

The victory marked her emphatic response to suffering a first career defeat at the hands of Shields on a historic all-female card at The O2 arena in October 2022, the pair having been embroiled in a long-term rivalry stemming from Marshall’s victory over her counterpart in the amateur ranks, which remains the American’s only loss.

Claressa Shields VS Dmitry Salita

“This is why the PFL have signed me, because they can see the potential of me and Claressa fighting in the cage,” Marshall told Sky Sports.

“I saw her in her last fight live, and now I know what I’m looking at on the ground I know how hard it is, because watching her first two fights I thought she was terrible.

“But now I know how hard it is, changing your boxing and defending takedowns, you aren’t just looking at fists, you’re looking at feet and I get it.

Anthony Joshua is preparing for one of the biggest fights of his career later this month.

Having risen to the very top of the heavyweight division in quick fashion early on in his career, Joshua has had a number of ups and downs since.

He became a world title holder in 2016 and made successful defences against the likes of Dominic Breazeale, Alexandr Povetkin and Carlos Takam, unified against Wladimir Klitschko and Joseph Parker, then came unstuck against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019 out in New York.

He avenged that loss later the same year but again lost his WBA, WBO and IBF belts on points over 12 rounds when taking on Oleksandr Uysk. The rematch went the same way in 2022 and since then Joshua has been rebuilding with four solid wins over Jermaine Franklin, Otto Wallin, Robert Helenius and most recently a devastating knockout of Francis Ngannou back in March.

Mike Tyson had such an impact on the sport of boxing that one of the current top heavyweights was named after him.

Many would like to see that legacy left alone and are disappointed that he’s returning at 57-years-old to face YouTuber-turned-fighter Jake Paul.

Tyson Fury VS Mike Tyson

That doesn’t include Tyson Fury, ‘Iron’ Mike’s namesake and whose half-brother Tommy is the only man to beat Paul. He told The Stomping Ground that the controversial event was ‘fantastic for boxing.’

“I think it’s fantastic for boxing. You’ve got a legend in Mike Tyson, you’ve got a YouTube boxer who’s come into the game and blew it up with millions of followers and millions of views. Good, bad or indifferent, some people love him, some people hate him.

I think it’s a really good spectacle for boxing, it brings a lot of people to the game. Who am I to say Mike Tyson shouldn’t be boxing or Jake Paul shouldn’t be boxing? Good luck to them, they’re both gonna make what I call a s**t ton of money out of it.”

As for his verdict on the fight, Fury believes that, based on ‘Iron’ Mike’s short training clips posted online, it’s evenly matched.

Jake Paul AND Mike Tyson VS Tyson Fury

“Okay the guy’s 57-years-old, but he’s former undisputed world heavyweight king and one guy who plays computers for a living who’s come into boxing about a year ago – so pretty even match … You’ve got to admire them both and I wish them both the best of luck. I seen Mike’s training hard on his videos, and Jake Paul’s always in shape. People say it’s s**t but I bet they still watch it.”

Many have pointed out that Tyson’s gym work, which does look impressive, is in short bursts designed for social media and doesn’t show what comes next – the recovery.

Whether he has what it takes to deliver that on the big stage over eight two-minute rounds remains to be seen. Of course, he himself may believe it will be over much quicker than that.

He has never even been knocked down by an opponent’s punch, so you’d have to be brave or stupid to take him on.

Taking to Instagram, Gervonta Davis‘ trainer wrote, “Gervonta Davis can decode the shoulder roll if Floyd can fight another exhibition. He can fight another fight if he is great as he says he is. Let’s stop spinning the fans, Gervonta vs Floyd.”

Davis was actually a part of Mayweather Productions in the past when he was trying to make his name, but since departing in 2022, he has been at loggerheads with Mayweather and a fight has been on the cards.

Mayweather had big hopes for Davis when they started working together.

“Uh, no I asked [was] what [Floyd] for the whole summer before I signed with him you know before I even you know signed anything on paper he already bought me cars, he bought me jewelry, and things like that,” Gervonta once said in an interview.

Fury will get the chance at revenge over Usyk when the pair meet again on December 21 in Saudi Arabia, seven months on from their first meeting which the Ukrainian won by split decision to claim the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Former world champion, Hamed has blasted critics of ‘The Gypsy King’ and feels his whole career is being overlooked after suffering what was a maiden professional defeat.

FRANK BRUNO VS TYSON FURY

“Fury-Usyk, it’s gonna be a good fight,” the 50-year-old told IFLTV.

“I would love to see Tyson Fury step up to the plate in a way that he’s never ever done and bring all them belts back home.

“Nothing will make me happier than seeing that.

“I’ve always said why’s everybody just talking about his last fight?

“Why weren’t they talking about Tyson when he went and smashed up Wilder when nobody could do it.

“When Anthony Joshua wouldn’t fight him, why are we not talking about that?

“Why are you only talking about Tyson Fury right now after this last fight?

“How can you take everything away what he’s done in the sport and base it on his last fight?”

Fury endured a disastrous and fight-altering ninth round and was given a standing eight count from the referee, after stumbling into the ropes, as a result of a barrage of punishing blows.

The 36-year-old will not have the opportunity to become undisputed champion on December 21, after Usyk relinquished the IBF crown, with Daniel Dubois elevated to full champion and defending that belt on September 21 against Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium.

Hamed feels ‘The Gypsy King’ can reverse the result on December 21 and repeat the moments of success he had, in the rematch.

“He could [win the rematch] cause look, I seen him hitting Usyk with some serious uppercuts and hurting him and can hurt him so I feel he can.

“We got a lot of love for the Furys.

“He’s named his son [Prince], he’s said, after me.

“That means the world to me.”

He first came up against Joshua back in 2021 as a big underdog at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London. It was a close 12-round fight that he ultimately won on points.

He repeated the feat in 2022 when the two met for a rematch out in Saudi Arabia, this time surviving heavy shots late on from AJ to once again take a decision on the scorecards. The Brit struggled to accept defeat in the ring afterwards but over the course of the next year or so got back to winning ways including with three stoppage victories.

They have led him to a fight with IBF ruler Daniel Dubois in September when he will attempt to become a world champion for the third time.

It was back in May that Usyk put his three world titles on the line against Fury, the then WBC champion. That victory made him the undisputed heavyweight king, the first time anyone had held that honour since Lennox Lewis more than two decades ago.

Now Usyk must rematch Fury in December. Should he lose and Joshua win, there has been much speculation that ‘The Gypsy King’ and AJ could finally come to blows in the ring next year.

Boxing King Media asked the Ukrainian who he thought would win that fight should it happen and he went with the man in form.
