Tennis ace Caroline Wozniacki dropped a supportive comment under Brooks Koepka’s timely social media ode to his wife, Jena Sims, just as Rory McIlroy’s marital split from Erica Stoll made headlines.

Before Xander Schauffele’s triumph at the 2024 PGA Championship, McIlroy shocked the golfing world by filing for divorce from Stoll, describing their marriage as “irretrievably broken” before astonishingly backpedaling on that decision a month later.

As the split made headlines, Koepka hopped on Instagram to shower Sims with adoration in what many saw as a subtle dig at his golfing adversary. Wozniacki, who once nearly tied the knot with McIlroychimed in beneath the post.

The Danish star can often be seen at golf events alongside her husband, former NBA star David Lee, as they cheer on Koepka. Wozniacki and Lee married in 2019 and have two children following her split from McIlroy in 2014.

In the midst of McIlroy divorce chatter, Koepka’s Instagram was ablaze with pictures of Sims gracing the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. His caption read: “So proud of you. amazing to see what hard work can do! I love you!”

“Hot mama, Wozniacki commented with several fire emojis. McIlroy and Wozniacki were together for more than two years before calling it quits in May 2014. Their split happened shortly after they had sent out wedding invitations.

McIlroy characterized the split as amicable and mutual, yet Wozniacki countered that their romance was cut short by a brief phone call from the golfer, after which they ceased communication.

McIlroy met Stoll during her time working at the 2012 Ryder Cup with the PGA of America. Their romance sparked three years after McIlroy’s parting with Wozniacki..

The duo exchanged vows in April 2017 and embraced parenthood with the arrival of their daughter, Poppy, three years later. Despite Koepka’s apparent dig, McIlroy and Stoll were able to reconcile their differences just before the 2024 U.S. Open.

McIlroy “voluntarily dismissed” his petition to separate from Stoll. It was a dramatic change of events for the 35-year-old’s personal life, given the relationship with his wife appeared broken beyond repair after filing for divorce just one month prior.

“There have been rumors about my personal life recently, which is unfortunate,” McIlroy said in a statement. “Responding to each rumor is a fool’s game.

“In recent weeks, Erica and I came to the realization that our optimal future lies together as a family. We’re grateful to have worked through our issues and are excited about starting anew.”

Fresh off his 2025 Masters victory, McIlroy sets his sights on further triumphs at the upcoming PGA Championship scheduled at Quail Hollow from May 15-18.
