Shields is the most accomplished women’s boxer in the history of the sport. The 29-year-old has previously held undisputed titles at middleweight and junior middleweight. Shields earned the vacant WBO light heavyweight title and the WBC heavyweight belt in July with a second-round TKO win over Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse.
The 42-year-old Danielle Perkins comes into tonight’s fight as a significant underdog. Perkins hails from Brooklyn, New York. She is the No. 1 ranked contender according to the WBA. Perkins is coming off a unanimous decision win over Christianne Fahey on the undercard of Shields’ July fight card.
