Gervonta Davis has named who he believes to be the three best boxers to ever lace up a pair of gloves.
Davis is currently carving his own legacy, having put together an undefeated record of 30-0, with 28 of those victories coming by knockout.
He is the current WBA lightweight champion, with his next defence coming in March against Lamont Roach, and ‘Tank’ has also held world honours at super-featherweight and super-lightweight.
When it came to naming who he saw as the greatest of all time, Davis had three fighters in mind whilst speaking to PBC.
“Floyd Mayweather. Sugar Ray Leonard. Pernell Whitaker.”
Davis worked with Floyd Mayweather during the early stages of his career, so it isn’t a surprise to see him praising the boxing legend, even though there relationship has been strained as of late.
Mayweather retired with a perfect record of 50-0, winning world titles in five weight classes from super-featherweight to super-welterweight, beating the likes of Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya, Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto and Juan Manuel Marquez along the way.
Sugar Ray Leonard was another that excelled in multiple divisions, becoming a five-weight world champion, and undisputed at welterweight.
