Alot of high-profile boxers are currently in holding patterns when it comes to deciding what their next moves will be. Canelo Alvarez still doesn’t have an opponent for September. No one knows what Devin Haney might do after the Ryan Garcia debacle. And Gervonta Davis just saw a potential opponent, Vasiliy Lomachenko, fall through.

That last big name is of particular importance to Shakur Stevenson, who is coming off of a recent victory and needs a notable win to stave off the criticism. Fighting and beating Tank would certainly accomplish that, and it sounds like Stevenson is open and willing to making it happen.

Shakur Stevenson waiting for Tank Davis to make the call

Stevenson’s co-manager, Josh Dubin, spoke to BoxingScene on Tuesday and revealed that they’re just waiting on Davis to come through.

It’s all up to Tank. The one thing about Shakur: he will take anyone you put in front of him. We’re here and waiting and ready to negotiate. We’ll know how realistic [it] is by how financially viable they make it for Shakur… [We] have our phone lines open, ready for a call, and they have our numbers. It’s a fight Shakur really wants. He’s been begging for it for a long time.

RYAN GARCIA VS GERVONTA TANKS

It appears that Stevenson wants it badly, but it will come down to the numbers, as is usually the case when two elite boxers try to plan a fight. We’ll see if both sides can make sacrifices and come to a compromise some time within the next couple of months.

Gervonta Davis paused for a moment before picking the best opponent he has ever faced.

The Baltimore banger has barely put a foot wrong during his unblemished 30-0 career so choosing the boxer who gave him the toughest test is no easy task.

Gervonta Davis AND Isaac Cruz

The consensus pick among fans would be Isaac Cruz, who pushed Davis all the way to the final bell in December 2021.

But after pondering the question for a few seconds, Davis chose Ryan Garcia.

Speaking in the immediate aftermath of his seventh-round stoppage victory over ‘King Ry’ last year, he said: “I’d say he’s the best fighter.

“Definitely, we was going off each other energy in there.

“We was actually talking in there. You know what I mean? It was fun.

“It was fun while it lasted. You know what I mean? I enjoyed every moment of it.”

Garcia had his moments but he eventually succumbed to a sickening body shot knockout after falling behind on all three judges scorecards.

“I just felt like I was like a step, a level above him,” Davis added.

“You know what I mean? So, everything he was doing in the ring, I was already aware of everything.

“I was already aware a couple steps before he did it.

“So, I was mostly calm and just let him make his mistakes and I just, you know, yeah, I countered off his mistakes.”

After beating Garcia, Davis spent 44 days in prison for violating the terms of a sentence, which initially saw him avoid jail time.

In May last year, Davis was sentenced to 90 days of home detention, three years probation, and 200 hours of community service over his November 2020 hit-and-run car crash which injured four people.

‘Tank’ was later found guilty of violating the terms of his home detention by trying to serve the home detention order at the Four Seasons Hotel and a $3.4million penthouse, rather than trainer Calvin Ford’s house as the judge initially agreed.

As a result, he was ordered to serve the rest of his 90-day sentence in jail.

After his release, Davis returned to the ring against Frank Martin in June 2024 – a fight he won via eighth-round KO.

Consequently, Martin couldn’t be considered in Davis’ ‘toughest opponent’ debate, although he was far more complimentary about Garcia’s abilities than ‘The Ghost’s’. Davis’ pick may come as somewhat of a surprise considering the manner in which he dealt with his rival.

Ryan Garcia has resumed his bizarre behavior, but this time, the controversial fighter seems to have taken things to the next level by proposing to boxer Claressa Shields that they have a baby, despite the fact that she is engaged.

While Garcia is embroiled in the scandal of testing positive for drug tests twice during his fight against Devin Haney, and has requested a B sample test, scheduled for May 22, Garcia made the bold proposal to Shields, who is engaged to boyfriend Tony Rich.

Since his fight against Haney was announced, Garcia has been linked to numerous women, some famous and some relatively unknown; however, each date seemed aimed at the purpose of gaining Shields’ attention.

In a post on the X-platform, Claressa Shields shared a screenshot of her text message exchange with Randy said, “Boy oh boy! I run 6 miles, do 100 ab wheel rollers, train my SCOC boxing kids….then I wake up to s*** like this @RyanGarcia and all I’m doing is minding my business.”

Meanwhile, in text messages, Garcia appears to have made the initiative, saying, “If we had a baby, the baby would be superhuman.” To this, Shields maintained her polite demeanor and responded, “You need help Ryan,” referencing Ryan’s erratic behavior.

But, of course, ‘The Flash’ wasn’t about to let up, as he continued his string of messages.

He replied, “I’m just saying tho whatever…. You are a two-time Olympic gold medalist. I’m the best fighter to ever live.”
