McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2021.

Mike Tyson‘s trainer predicts a fight with Logan Paul to spell the end of Conor McGregor‘s credibility in the UFC and as an MMA fighter as the 36-year-old Irishman enters three-and-a-half years out of commission in the Octagon.

The Notorious last fought in July 2021 when he broke his leg against Dustin Poirier in what spelled his third defeat in four fights, starting from when he unsuccessfully challenged Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title.

He did have a proposed fight with Michael Chandler in June 2024 but ultimately had to postpone it due to a broken toe six weeks prior. The inactivity, combined with legal issues and his business ventures, means lots of people have largely given up dreams of seeing him competing at the front of the UFC again.Mike Tyson

Now looking to make a return to boxing, in what he claims is a $250m bout, Teddy Atlas believes taking on Paul would all but spell the end of his career as a mixed martial artist as the legendary trainer of Iron Mike provides his forecast.

McGregor‘s the more experienced legitimate fighter here,” Atlas said on his YouTube podcast. “Obviously, Paul‘s going to be much bigger, and he’s going to be younger. Does this officially signal that Conor‘s no longer looking to be a legitimate pure MMA fighter?

“Now that he’s doing these events, extravaganzas, if you will, for this kind of money, does it signal, really, an end to his legitimacy as an MMA fighter? If so, I don’t think it should be forgotten how great he really was, and it might be the end.”

Atlas compares McGregor to Ali

Despite competing in different fighting disciplines, Atlas believes there is a very flattering comparison between McGregor and, arguably the most famous athlete of all-time, Muhammad Ali.

Known for his witty remarks and showmanship, Ali’s reputation away from the ring was just as iconic as his intimidating aura within it as both played a role in him becoming heavyweight champion on three occasions with 19 defenses.

Atlas believes McGregor‘s own showmanship is part of why the UFC has grown to be as successful as it is today, something he believes Ali did for boxing throughout the 1960s and 1970s too with iconic bouts against Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Sonny Liston.

“But I don’t think it should be forgotten that he was a great UFC fighter and champion,” Atlas added of McGregor. “And he brought the sport to a different level of paydays, much like [Muhammad] Ali did in boxing.”

‘Canceled’—the caption stunned everyone. Most of the fans are eager to see Gervonta Davis square off against Shakur Stevenson. A face-off between ‘Tank’ and any other champion would still excite them. Despite the initial shock, most fans came to terms with the fact that Lamont Roach Jr. would be stepping into the ring. The title defense has already faced a postponement. So most geared themselves for the rescheduled March 1 showdown. But in came another shocker.

The Baltimorean’s Instagram story featured the word: ‘canceled’. It didn’t take much time before rumors that Davis had been hinting at the upcoming Roach Jr. fixture took off. On the other hand, appearing unruffled, Lamont Roach Jr. went about his business—the fight was on. Perhaps Davis, who had already shocked the boxing world with his retirement plans, was going through a momentary phase. Through a recent post, however, Gervonta Davis seemingly eased concerns. After paying tribute to a close associate who passed away a few years ago, he signaled his return to training with a renewed flair.

Gervonta Davis back with renewed zealGervonta Davis

Boxing Kingdom recently shared a photo of Gervonta Davis. It featured him relaxing on a couch. With locks of hair falling across his face, a ponytail distinguished him. Many fans likely recall the Baltimore-born champion wearing his signature braided hairstyle.

I do this out of love💜; it just comes off as anger… If you felt any type of pain, it’s supposed to turn you up! #TheONE March 1st #LongLiveMyBigBro,” read his message. Baby Frank used to train alongside Gervonta Davis at the Baltimore-based boxing gym. Sadly, street violence abruptly ended his life a few years ago.

Boxing star Gervonta Davis has left fans blown away with a new long-hair look.

‘Tank’ has become one of the most iconic faces in the sport, and currently holds the WBA lightweight world title.

The American superstar’s next fight against Lamont Roach appeared to be cancelled after he announced the news on social media.

But that decision appears to have since been reversed and he has made a return to training, hitting the gym to prepare for the pencilled in title defence.

Although it is actually a surprising new look that has caught the attention of fans within his most recent social media post.Gervonta Davis vs. Shakur Stevenson to declare generation's best at lightweight | DAZN News CA

He posted a series of snaps from around his return to the gym, but one left fans bewildered.

The 30-year-old showed off a new look with a long hair in the style of a pony tail, a sharp contrast to his normal appearance.

And social media users could barely believe their eyes, with one writing: “Is that even him?”

Another agreed: “That doesn’t even look like Tank, wtf.”

One fan joked: “He in his samurai mode, nobody is taking this man out.”

A fan pointed out: “I’m sure they’re about to be braided so it’s straightened.”

One even suggested: “Honestly, until someone beat him in the ring I say Tank can do as he pleases within the law.Gervonta Davis Drops Bombshell On 'Stepping Away From Boxing' For One Reason: "Never See Me Again" - Seconds Out

“They said Oscar De La Hoya and Sugar Ray Leonard were pretty boys as well, and they turned out alright.”

Davis will not be distracted by the viral post, and is instead focusing on his next outing in the squared circle.

But surprisingly the American has declared that 2025 could well be his final year in the sport.

He incredibly declared he would hang up his gloves, despite a whole host of potential fights being on the table before his career is over.

And Davis has since doubled down on his remarkable claim, insisting he is struggling with the mental side of fame coming from the sport.

Floyd Mayweather barely put a foot wrong during his unblemished 50-0 professional career.

Only a handful of fighters were able to ask questions of the self-proclaimed ‘Best Ever’ at the peak of his powers.

There was his nip-and-tuck affair with Oscar De La Hoya in 2007, a shaky moment against Shane Mosley in 2010 and, of course, Mayweather’s inaugural encounter against Jose Luis Castillo in 2002, which many fans felt he lost.

But outside of those three fights, Mayweather remained in almost complete control throughout his stint in the paid ranks.

Other generational greats he shared the ring with were Manny Pacquiao, Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez.

It is therefore a massive compliment to former welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr, who Mayweather sparred in 2013, that he was singled out as one of the best fighters the boxing icon had faced in the ring.

“Errol Spence, he’s a hell of a fighter,” Mayweather told Fight Hype.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. Net Worth: How much is the fortune of the controversial boxer? | Marca“One thing about me, I’m always going to give it to you 100 per cent you know.

“And in training camp, when I was training for my fight with [Robert] Guerrero, Errol Spence gave me solid work.

“He’s a very young, tough competitor, so if I sit here and not give that young kid props, it’ll be bad.

“Even though after doing my time I’d been off a year, he took me to the limit, he made me work in the boxing gym, I like kids like that.”

Spence unified the WBA, WBC and IBF welterweight titles in the late 2010s and early 2020s before losing all three major world titles to Terence Crawford in a much-anticipated, undisputed clash in July 2023.

‘The Truth’ hasn’t fought since that fateful night although he is reportedly close to agreeing on a deal to box WBO and WBC super welterweight champion Sebastian Fundora in early 2025.

However, newly appointed WBO president Gustavo Olivieri has informed talkSPORT.com that only the WBC title will be on the line should that fight make it off the negotiation table.

If Fundora beats Spence then he will keep hold of his belt.

But should he fall to defeat then WBO interim champion Crawford will be elevated to full world champion without throwing a punch.

Success Lessons from Floyd Mayweather. « Money Matters with Nimi“During the WBO convention at the ratings proceedings which I was presiding at after being elected, TGB Promotions through their council, Phile Weiss (lawyer) petitioned that Errol Spence be installed within the top ten at 154lbs,” said Oliveri.

“The purpose was to request that he be allowed to fight Fundora for the [WBO] title and he presented his case with strong arguments.

“But there are some factors that are undisputed: he’s been inactive for two years, he’s coming off a brutal TKO loss to Terence Crawford and he has never fought at 154lbs nor been rated at 154lbs.

“So I have those facts that are undisputed… You may say ‘Errol Spence is one of the biggest names at 154lbs, it’s a great fight against Fundora’.

“But based on those facts and the other fighters that are waiting their turn at 154lbs, having fought at 154lbs plus their level activity, their suitable opposition, having won regional titles, having faced rated contenders.

“If I allow Spence to fight Fundora immediately for the title with those facts…

“Would that be a good precedent to set? It would open doors for other petitions, ‘Oh you did this in the past, why are you not giving the chance to another fighter?’

“And we have done this in the past, Tim Tszyu wanted to fight Keith Thurman and we didn’t approve Thurman.

“And we’re not going to sanction that fight [Fundora vs Spence]. Fundora may fight Spence but it will be considered a WBO non-title fight…

“We’re going to allow him to proceed with that fight with the condition that if he loses, the title is vacated automatically and Crawford elevated to full champion status.”

The Ukrainian heavyweight has, after all, shared the ring with both men.

Fury put an end to Klitschko’s reign of dominance over the heavyweight division by snatching his WBA, IBF and WBO titles away from him in 2015 via unanimous decision following a remarkable 22-fight winning streak that lasted for 11 years.

Klitschko went on to activate the rematch clause in his contract but their second fight was cancelled as Fury’s mental health spiralled out of control.

While Fury took some time away from the sport, Joshua put the final nail in Klitschko’s coffin two years later by knocking him out in the 11th round of a barnburning bout.

Both Brits have gone on to become the two biggest names in the heavyweight division but as of yet their paths are yet to cross between the ropes.

Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua: Will it finally happen? | Boxing News | Sky SportsHowever, that looks set to change this year with both men seemingly on a collision course to face each other after suffering back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Klitscko’s opinion may have changed since he was last asked who he thought would win the all-British showdown.

But back in 2018, his stance was clear – even if his wording was a bit odd.

“Hands down Joshua,” he told Sky Sports. “He is getting to be the complete fighter.

“Technically, size-wise, weight-wise, power-wise. And he is a good learner.

“The other guy [Fury], like a fart in the wind, is there, and it is gone.

“In the history of boxing, there are a lot of examples of this kind of guy.

“They can be successful for a time but are not disciplined enough to continue to be successful.

“I wish Tyson well, but I think there is a lack of discipline there, and discipline is more important than motivation.

“Drawing from my experience, I would say it is going to be very difficult for Tyson because there’s that lack of discipline.”

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will soon be presented with venue for world title fight, says promoter Eddie Hearn | Boxing News | Sky SportsOf course, these comments came during Fury’s first retirement from the sport when he was drinking and abusing drugs.

But that’s not to say his commitment to the sport hasn’t been questioned over the years.

His lack of discipline nearly cost him an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Francis Ngannou in 2023 when he came in at a career-heaviest weight and then barely scraped by the boxing novice.

However, he would undoubtedly pay more respect to Joshua.

Especially given the extortionate amount of money that will be on the line if the fight ever gets past the negotiation table.

Gervonta Davis shocked boxing fans when he announced that he will be hanging up the gloves at the end of 2025.

The knockout artist from Baltimore is 30-0 in his campaign with 28 stoppages. He has the potential, with a little more activity, to be one of it not the biggest star in the sport. That now looks unlikely given his out-of-the-blue retirement call.

Speaking to Moment Of Spotlight, an introspective ‘Tank’ Davis said his decision was somewhat based on the outside influences of the sport.

Gervonta Davis Drops Bombshell On 'Stepping Away From Boxing' For One Reason: "Never See Me Again" - Seconds Out

“I’m going through a lot, been through a lot, been betrayed and s**t like that. It really made me want to give up on the limelight. Everybody chase being in front of the camera. They chase an image. I don’t want to be a part of that. As long as I have my money, can take care of my kids and whoever I need to take care of, I don’t need none of this … You’re always being judged. You always got to live for someone else. You gotta be perfect, and nobody’s perfect.”

Davis then admitted that the animosity he feels towards opponents – perhaps a necessity to produce the sort of stunning knockouts he does – is something he would like to move away from.

“I’m the type of person if you go against me as a boxer, I don’t like you as a person. S**t like that I need to step away from, cause I don’t want to be like that. I feel as though I’m in it and if somebody is betting against me I feel like they want to stop my whole motion that I have going on. I don’t want to be like that. That’s why I’d rather step back on it and be on the cool side.”

Finally, 30-year-old Davis said that once of probation people may ‘never see him again.’

“At the end of 2025 I feel as though I should be more mature mentally, further than I am now. And I should be off of probation so I can travel the whole world. Once I can travel the whole world, people probably won’t ever see me again. I probably won’t be in America again.”

‘Tank’s final year in the sport begins with a title defence against Lamont Roach Jr on March 1 in Brooklyn, New York.

Olympic gold medallist and two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Lagos residence on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have been linked with a huge all-British clash for years. With Fury on the cusp of his world title fight with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night in Riyadh, shown live on TNT Sports Box Office, there is speculation that the Briton could finally move onto a fight against Joshua in 2025. Fury, his promoters and Eddie Hearn all have had their say in the recent past.

The two fighters have circled one another for a decade, but will Tyson Fury finally fight Anthony Joshua?
Fury fights Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night, live on TNT Sports Box Office, and whether he wins or loses, most British fight fans will hope that before Joshua and Fury step away from the sport, they will finally settle their rivalry.
Poll: Will Tyson Fury-Anthony Joshua actually happen in 2021? - Bad Left HookThe two almost fought a few years ago, before they were sidetracked, in part, by Usyk.
In 2021 it seemed set that the two Britons would meet in the ring for an undisputed clash in their next fights, but ultimately, Fury was forced to honour an obligation to take on Deontay Wilder in his trilogy rematch, which he duly won.
While he retained his WBC crown, Joshua found himself teed up to defend his three belts against Usyk, who was getting used to the heavyweight division after moving up from cruiserweight.
Ultimately, the Ukrainian would win both of his two fights against Joshua to set up an undisputed clash with Fury, which he won in May. That leads us to now, with several options ahead for Fury.
  • Tyson Fury trained solidly for three months without speaking to his wife, Paris
  • Oleksandr Usyk appeared to make reference to this in his post-fight interview
  • Relive Fury’s defeat to Usyk round-by-round with Mail Sport’s blog from the bout

Oleksandr Usyk suggested his wife was responsible for his victory over Tyson Fury in a subtle dig at the Brit – after the Gypsy King ignored his beloved Paris for three months.

Fury locked himself away in an intensive camp and claimed he had not spoken to his wife Paris, who he married in 2008 and has seven kids with.

The pair were finally reunited on Thursday night at the pre-fight press conference but their coalition did not inspire Fury to victory on Saturday in Riyadh.

Usyk won 116-112 on all three of the judges’ scorecards to retain his WBA, WBC, and WBO heavyweight belts, winning 16 of the last 18 available rounds in the second half of the fight.

Asked what the key to that stamina was, he said: ‘I don’t know, maybe I train. Good prepare. My wife helps me (smiles).

In the build-up to the fight, Usyk revealed that he had not actually seen his wife Yekaterina (Katerina) for five months, but said they spoke every day.

He and Katerina have been married for 15 years and have four children: sons Kyrylo and Mykhalio and daughters Yelizaveta and Maria, whose birth he missed preparing for the first contest between himself and Fury.

‘It’s helped me – because it’s my family,’ the Ukrainian said.

‘My little daughter, Maria, started to walk, say ‘mama’, ‘baba’ [grandmother]. This is real motivation for me.’

Fury vs Usyk 2 LIVE: Result, scorecards, stats & reaction as Usyk defeats Tyson Fury on points - BBC SportElite athletes often face time away from loved ones but it is a particularly felt theme in boxing, where fighters withdraw for long periods of time and demand unyielding focus of themselves.

Fury revealed in October that his wife Paris suffered a miscarriage on the eve of his first fight with Usyk in May, but that he was only told when he returned home.

‘She was six months pregnant. It’s not like a small miscarriage at the beginning – you have to physically give birth to a dead child, on your own, while your husband is in a foreign country.

‘To go through that on your own isn’t good.’

Paris usually attends the Gypsky King’s fights but he knew something was wrong when she was not ringside for that first bout in Riyadh, which he lost via split decision.

He said: ‘I said to my brother “she’s lost that baby”. She never told me she had lost the baby, but I knew.

‘When I got back I got the inevitable confirmation that it was gone, but she had kept it to herself.’

Fury added: ‘I could not be there for her in that moment. And that’s tough for me.

‘I have been with the woman for longer than I wasn’t with her, so it’s hard that I couldn’t be there with her in that time.’

Fury once again went the distance with Usyk on Saturday night and was praised by pundits for raising his game, though the scorecards handed him a distant defeat.

Fury stormed out of the ring after learning the result and later told Sky Sports that he felt he had won by three rounds, while co-promoter Frank Warren called a defeat by that margin ‘impossible’.

In the press conference, Fury was asked what’s next for him after coming up short in undisputed and then unified title fights, signalling the first losses of his entire professional career.

‘I thought I won that fight. I thought I won both fights but I’m going home with two losses on my record. There’s not much I can do about it. I can just fight my heart out,’ he said.

‘I will believe ’til the day I die that I won that fight. I was aggressive, on the front foot all night, landing to the body and head. Frank Warren [his promoter] had me three or four rounds up. A lot of people had me at least two rounds up. But I’m not going to cry over spilled milk. I can’t change the decision. When you don’t get the KO this is what happens: you can’t guarantee a win

‘You might see me fight again, you might not,’ he cryptically answered. Many fans will hope his future involves a long-awaited dust-up with Anthony Joshua.
